baby, off the wall

i have noticed that when i post something on the facebook wall of a celeb --or any organization using "like" rather than "add as friend" -- it gets deleted like 2 mins later. a radio show, say -- a reasonable post like "what time is that interview scheduled for" will get rapidly deleted. meanwhile threads of 30 or 40 inane posts stand, just so long as they hang OFF of a post the celeb/station/organization itself made.

is there some setting for "allow REPLIES to wall but not POSTS to wall" in these accounts?

i shud note that the initial post is never BLOCKED outright. it "takes" briefly, but then disappears a minute or two later! no matter what time of day or night...so i can't imagine a HUMAN is removing them....

 

I have a fan page, as an artist. And I can set it to not allow comments, but to allow you to post on comments I make, or I can make it so you can't write on anything at all.

 

for the 1st one there, why does it provide a post field with "write something...", if only to "purge" it a minute later? shudn't the box just be ABSENT from the gitgo?

and don't u find that it leads to ppl piggybacking their comments on unrelated threads? like my "when is that interview" query -- ended up plob dab in the middle of a 40-post thread about fried fish or something....

but, hey, at least it stayed!!

Maybe the person managing it (it's rarely the celeb) has been messing with it, while you were posting? Or, possibly, they Screen comments. I couldn't say for sure, being as I'm not popular enough to need to do that, but its just an idea.

 

no, i'm not talking about a lone site. look up any DJ/talking head/radio station site; 90% of their sites act like this.

(i suspect a few national ones ban posting outright, but for local-market celeb level, at least)

 

i was shocked -- SHOCKED -- to log in today and find that someone has LIKED my post! what the...?!

fwiw, the header reads "[me]>[radio stn]'s profile>[my] wall". what thu...?! why is it on MY wall?

i looked on my own wall, it ain't there neither. except for a one-line entry "[me] posted 'Xxx Xx Xxx...' on [radio stn]'s wall". "radio stn" carries a link back to the radio station, and "wall" a link back to the isolated post, the same way i saw it in "notifications" in paragraph 1. not to their actual wall. a visual check confirms in fact there's still no sign of it there!

imma msg the guy who "liked" it and ask him where the heck he's seeing it. if it's a normal post sitting normally on the radio station's normal wall, why can't *I* see it?!
