back plates?

alright well this thread is about my new hp pavilion a6109n , im removed the case so that i can install a wireless pci adapter. So i got 2 questions.

1) there seems to be wires directly above the free slot , would it be ok to just move em a little bit so that i can put the card in.. im assuming once i stop holding them they will be in contact with the card.. is this ok?

2) I got to remove a metal plate so that the wireless antena can stick out.. but i dont understand how to do it.. its all complicated. On my other older computer it held in by 1 screw but now its all complicated and when i read the manual it says "rotate the screwdriver to break
the knockout plate" am i suppose to break this?

It's alright to move the wires around as long as you don't start yanking on the connections, slow and easy is the ticket. (Remember to ground yourself by touching a metal part of the case before doing any card or plate changes.)
If all the slot covers are joined together as a unit, take them out as a unit and separate the one where you want to place the card and replace the others.

 

Yes, you need to "break" it, meaning break it lose and remove it so that you have an opening there.

 

On my new case the 'plates' have a cross in the middle of them
for a phillips head screwdriver I guess the idea is to put a screwdriver in there and to lever it gently side to side until the little tabs holding the plate break.

All i did was to wiggle the plates around a bit by hand until the tabs broke

For the cables you may be able to reroute them or cable tie them out of the way if necessary
