Back to Morrowind

Hey everyone. So, I get Morrowind installed, and I've been playing it often with no problems. Now when I put the CD in, it brings up the launcher, I hit play, it acts like its going to run, then closes and I'm back to the desktop. Don't get me wrong, I *like* my desktop and all, but I was just hoping to play the game. I'm not sure what info you need, but here's a start:

compaq presario 5000
1.2gig (i *think* its a celeron)
256 ram
radeon 9200/128mb
I've updated the drivers today
52X CDRom
40gig HD
Ok, if theres anything else let me know. I've also tried to un/reinstall morrowind to no effect.

I had this problem and all i did was patched it from the official site!

 

I'm confused

It works now. I wonder how that happened. It wouldn't work after updating drivers, reinstalling..etc., but *now* it decides to work. Its times like this where I realize how little I know about computers and software.

 

It could be as simple as a dirty or scratched CD or even dust in your CD reader. You should clean your CD lens regularly due to build-up of dust and debris.
