Nero works like a charm for me, you just have to remove the CD check..

    What is the cd check?
I am a newbie at Nero and burning cd to cd.

Just a guess, but it's probably against the terms of service of this site to talk about cra(ks and stuff.. sorry. ;)

What I am doing is not a crack thank you.
I legally own the game cd and I believe making a backup cd is legal.
If I am wrong please let me know.

Well.. since crack isn't blanked out (things have eased up from the old days) I will assume it's okay for me to post about this?

The thing is, anyone can say they're backing up their own games (I know, I've done it before because CDs tend to get scratched and it's always good to have an archive, blah, blah, blah..)

Anyways, whenever you back up copywrited disks you usually need to include a crack. There are a few exceptions where the disk will copy exactly as the first one, but this usually is not the case. I crack all my games after installing them just because it's a big hastle to always have find the CD and put it in.

Cracking your own games is not illegal.

    Thank you for the info.

It doesn't have to do with the serial, that would require a key gen. ;)

Most copywrited games use some type of copy protection, i.e. DiscGuard, SafeDisk, SecuROM.

"Most protection technologies (like SafeDisc & SecuROM) encrypt the main executable using a key, this key is then added to the disc as a digital signature."

In most cases when you copy a disk it is unable to copy this commercial digital signature key. That's why when you insert the back up copy it asks you to insert the game CD.
