Backing up data to multiple DVD's

Hi, I'm thinking of backing up my possibly-failing external hard drive to DVD's, but the software I've tried doesn't allow me to burn multiple disks, or else I'm not seeing the right setting.

In other words, if I have 20G of files, and the DVD capacity is only 8.5G, it says it can't do the job, instead of asking me if I want to burn multiple disks (like in iTunes with burning CD's).

I've used Nero 7 Essentials, and CD Burner XP. (Windows XP).

Does it have anything to do with the type of disks I'm using? I'm using DVD+R DL. Is that right?

    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hi

Personally I would suggest using something like Acronis True Image 2009 but its not free, so this application Ashampoo after a quick registration (they send you marketing info on their applications, but easy way to register is to create a spare email address on Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail and use that over your main normal email address) http://majorgeeks.com/Ashampoo_Burning_Studio_2009_-_Free_version_d6138.html
