Backing up movies

    I am having a lot of trouble backing up some movies (I do own the original movies), I have tried DVD Shrink, but run into CRC errors, I have tried Blindwrite but the movies are too big, does anyone know what program I need to use to shrink them first or if I am going about this all wrong. Any advice would be appreciated.
