backing up my files W98SE

Hi, I'm looking for backup software that will allow progressive backups based on new or modified files installed/modified since a specified date. I want it to exclude the Windows swap file (win386.swp--200megabytes) as I don't need to back that up. It would be the biggest file and take the longest and of no use as it easily recreated if necessary.

I usually do a complete backup once a week and would like something that would do daily backups, cumulative in size, until the next time I do a full backup.

I use Drive Image 2002 for full backups but don't think it will do partial backups based on dates. please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Prefer freeware, if possible, or shareware that I can give a decent trial before buying.
Dont care if it is Windows based or command driven through DOS commands.

W98SE, P2/400, 288 meg RAM (maxed out), IE6, AOL UK V7.0, V90 dialup modem, 30gig hard drive, plenty of room.

Thanks Robo. I am surprised by the lack of replies.
I thought everyone would jump in with their backup routines. Maybe they don't backup as much as they ought to. maybe they are all using XP and restore points !
I know W98 users are a dying race. I will give your suggestion atry.
I downloaded Cobian Backup and XXcopy.
Didn't like the interface on Cobian Backup and am still perservering with XXCopy. It almost does everything I want but will have to get onto their forum to solve a couple of queries I have. It is fast, cumulative back ups from a nominated date, but has path problems that I need to solve. Thanks again. Bazza
