Having had a problem (see my other thread), I've decided it's time to sort my backups out.

I have two computers; a PC running windows 2000 (home stuff on it) and a Laptop running XP (business)

I want a program/ hardware to be able to back-up all the data and programs on both. Ideally I would like to be able to replicate the current state of each should I have a problem.

I'm thinking of buying an external hard drive for this but would really appreciate some advice. It needs to be simple as I'm at novice level!

    Thanks

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Can I use one external hard drive to backup both computers?

Sure. Just be sure to name and organize your backup folders so that there's no confusion if you need to restore from them.

Any recommendations on an external hard drive - which make and what size?

    Thanks
