Backup Software

I have been using Macrium Pro for a few years. It works OK, but they do not offer support after 2 years. I want a backup product that will allow me to restore to different hardware like Macrium Redeploy does.

I back up 3 computers running XP-SP3. I plan on switching to Win-7 or Win-10 in the near future. I back up on a weekly basis..

Under System Requirements, it lists Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.

If Internet Explorer is not an installed Windows feature, can it still be used?

 

Yes.
You don't need a web browser to use the program.
I have no idea why that is a requirement. Might have something to do with updates. You'll notice the program supports Windows back to 2000. Back then the number of internet users was tiny compared to today, and most just went with IE.

 

IE might not be accessible directly from the desktop but, believe me, it's there. It's an integral part of the Windows operating system.

 

This may be an explanation for the Internet Explorer 5 requirement.

The oldest versions of Windows that are supported by Paragon Backup and Recovery are Windows 98, Windows 98 SE and Windows 2000.

Windows 98 included Internet Explorer 4.01
Windows 98 Second Edition included Internet Explorer 5
Windows 2000 included Internet Explorer 5

So it is possible that a supported OS, Win 98, would not have that minimum requirement.

 

He's running XP SP3. IE is there.
