Having same problem with XP Pro on standalone computer and Server 2003 on an IBM server. The built in Windows backup works great, if you manually start a backup. However, when I schedule a backup, nothing happens. The calendar shows the scheduled backups, but the computers never back up.

The XP Pro standalone computer is backing up to a secondary hard drive.

The Server 2003 IBM Server is backing up to a tape drive.

Any thoughts, words of wisdom, advice, help????

I also had exactly the same problem with XP Pro. I found that I have to login as a user with password before it would do a scheduled backup. As best I can recall, if I wasn't logged in, the backup program would start up but never really do anything. However, there was never any error to indicate a failure.

Backup seems to work just fine in a manual mode.

I would also like to know if there is solution or work around.
