We camped here on the weekend. Called White Boar lake, with the glacier draining into the lake. Elevation 5200ft. Bear country, but we didn't see any. Just deer walking through the site all weekend, along with grouse, rabbits, and chipmunks caught red-handed eating my do-nuts out of the box on the table! We also day-hiked to another lake at over 6000ft that was even more spectacular. Near freezing at night, so it was nice to have the cold-rated sleeping bags in the tent.
No other people camping besides our group of six.

Wow, nice pics. After being in the city so long it is hard to believe that places like that even exist. Looks like you had great time.

Fantastic piccies! The snow on the first one looks like a giant white wale. Amazing to see the world so still, the reflection in the water is awesome!

Awesome photos and what an excellent place to camp, sibeer.

Kinda makes me wish I was back out in the mountains with the boys, and not stuck here in the office once again. *sighs*

    Oh well......

Awesome..... and chipmunks eating donuts of the table?
I thought they only existed in cartoons, yet again i am from Oz and the only critters i see on the camp tables around here are crows, galahs and cockatoo's.
(and the odd possum or dingo at night).

    ahhh....the great outdoors!

No guns. We usually take our chances with the bears, and it takes a lot to get a deer to attack. Besides, I can outrun the people I'm with.;)
@BCGray...Yeah, I like it here. By crow, I think that lake is closer to Nelson than to Cranbrook. You'd have to drive over the Gray Creek pass to get there.

@sibeer yeah ever spring us Kootenites invite unsuspecting slow moving friends to go on hikes with us, bears just love em. What do bears call tourists in a sleeping bag TWINKIES:) Great huckle berry picking on that Gray Creek pass too. PS I actually live in Balfour, right on glorious Kootenay Lake.
