bad bad dvd problems

    ok so first i put in american pie 1 and it wouldnt work when i clicked on it it would accually go into the dvd like all the files were showing.
    then i put in van wilder and i clicked it and it wouldnt play right it was a messed up green screen please help

    i dont if its a hard ware or software problem, or driver

    1. OS running and S if any
    2. CD/DVD brand
    3. Software used for playing
    4. Open device manager. Is anything showing a yellow 1 or a red x; if so what?

    dvd brand? bought it.
    i used media player when it worked
    theres a yellow compact flash under portable devices
