Ok so i've read around on these forums (which may i add are f'n awsome when i have a problem) and see that more than afew people have had the same problem i'm having but couldn't get it fixed still.. one of the posts i was reading had the iso i think i may of needed (boot.iso) but link was dead. So figured i would post it here and hope someone knows whats goin on with my computer!

    First off specs:

Compaq Presario SR5130NX: AMD AthalonTM 64 x2 Dual Core Processor, 1GB Memory, 200GB Hard drive

Like schatzie_k i went to the compaq website like a jackass and tried to update everything after downgrading to xp from vista.. just to find out couldn't get audio to work on xp with this computer.. just to have to re upgrade to vista ..

So i updated all the drivers and such from the website.. doing the bios last.. about 20 seconds in it froze.. left it there for a few hours hoping it would finish anyway and i wouldn't have to go threw all this. but it diddn't i had to reset it and now i'm at where i'm at.

    BIOS ROM checksum error

    Detecting IDE ATAPI device...
Found CDROM, try to Boot from it ... Pass

It will pass when it has something in the cd rom but comes at me with:

" No physical memory is available at the location required for the windows boot manager. The system can not continue."

Then nothing.. just sits at that screen... i've tried taking out ram.. switchen them .. one bye one... also replaced the MB battery and that diddn't help.. i'm runnin out of ideas.. anyone?

    Hi

With a Checksum error just double check that you can enter the BIOS menus ok and if you can check that the date and time are correct, if not change and save and exit BIOS.

I know that many mainboard makers have recovery steps for BIOS issues, but never come across one for OEM PCs like Compaq I'm afraid.

    Good job...

If you don't mind me asking: what 'iso' did you use? I service many Compaq/HP machines, and good preparatory info is always useful...
