Bad CD drive?

Hey, I'm not a techno-tard or anything, I built my own PC from parts bought off of newegg. I like to think I'm pretty good as far as computer issues go. My problem is a recent one. I have a little brother who burns cds all day. Just borrows cds from friends, or downloads them off of the internet and burns em. He either broke my cd drives (unlikely) or changed a setting by mistake.

Enough of the back story, here's the deal. I have 2 drives. One is a lite on dvd drive (used for reading the cd) and the other is a Pioneer DVD Burner (guess what that does).

My problem is MOST LIKELY a setting in windows that I have overlooked. And here is the problem. NOTHING will autoplay anymore. It's not a huge issue, but I liked it when I put in a cd, or a program disk that it would start to play without me having to open my computer. I'm running Windows XP. If you could help me out, I'd love you for it!

2. How can I assure that this doesn't get changed again. Is there something I can warn my brother not to do when he's burning cds?
