    Hi,

All the DVDs I read are skipping and buggy.
It used to be all good. I think it all started when I installed a "codec pack" to read some downloaded movies. I uninstalled the pack now but it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.

Here are a few things I tried:
    - I tried with Media Center, Windows Media Player, PowerDVD, InterActual.
    All the same bad results.
    - I played with the "hardware acceleration". No changes.
    - I wanted to update my graphic driver from nVidia's website but the driver available online doesn't recognize my graphic card.
I always have to go on Dell's website to download their own version of the driver. Dell has an older version that nVidia. I re-downloaded it anyway, no change on my problem.
    - I played the movie with "MediaDirect".
It's a feature on my laptop that allows me to read DVDs without using Windows. Good news: it worked!
This means at least the problem is not from the lense.

Any other ideas of what I can do?
Maybe the latest driver from nVidia's website could help me, but it never works with me.

    My specs:
    Dell Inspiron E1705
    Windows XP SP2 Media Center
    nVidia GeForce Go 7800

    Please help :cry

    Thank you,

    Nathan

    Here is a follow up:
I managed to force an update of the graphic card driver (using LaptopVideo2Go.com).
This did not fix the problem...

    Any ideas? Please?

If you believe this codec pack was the culprit, you always have the option to restore to a point before the installation using system restore. You will lose anything after the restore point so hopefully you have a recent restore point or not too much important stuff since the install of the codec pack. If the restore doesn't work you have the option of undoing the restore. The process is very simple and couldn't hurt if you are convinced it is due to the codec pack.

Let me ask.... Do you use any registry cleaners? Could you have deleted something in the registry. If so, you can restore your registry if you backed it up. Or, again, you can use system restore to just before that point too. Good luck.
