Bad Usb Cord?

I have a amazon firestick(jailbroken with kodi/exodus) hooked up to my TV via HMDI port2, Usb cable, I think
now the picture will play for like Xlong then, fade to black for 2-3 seconds, then come back
the video is still playing, so I dont think its the firestick

other times, there is no interruption at all, or for longer times without a black screen
maybe the cable is bad?
thoughts?

 

Try a new cable or an alternative one that you know for sure works.

 

Cables don't just go bad over time (unless, maybe, exposed to the weather). They have to be physically abused. Dogs and cats (and toddlers too) are known to chew on cables, as are rodents, and even some insects. Make sure the cable is not being pinched under some furniture leg, or kinked.

You also don't connect a USB cable to a HDMI port. The connectors are totally different - as are the signals and voltages carried over the wires inside the cable.

The obvious first - make sure the connectors are securely fastened. You might also try different ports to connect the cables to. I would also try a different TV to see if it happens there. This could be your TV causing the problem and you need to isolate the problem to one side or the other.
