A relative in the UK had to format the hard drive and re-install the operating system.

The sound no longer works. It is onboard sound, so I asked her for the motherboard id. It is a Soltec SL-KT400-C

I went to the website and downloaded the audio drivers for that board. I have unzipped the download, and there are a lot of files in there. Basically, I'm going to copy it to a CD, and take it with me when we go for a visit next week.

I'm going to run the setup.exe file from the CD drive on her PC.

    Anything I should know????

    Thanks...

Nope, MrP that should just be all you need to do.

    Thanks Halo, but...

I'm back in Canada now, and she had to use the system restore. She has the disks, so she can do it again.

However, she is having problems with the video drivers. Her card is an ATI Radeon (does VE DDR mean anything?) and her computer just shuts down by itself every now and then. She had an error message saying the drivers were the problem. Is it possible for her to download some drivers from MajorGeeks and load them?

    Thanks
