Basic Networking Help

So Im taking a network hardware course ATM and I want to make sure Im understanding things OK.

So if I have an ip address of 195.0.0.141 the subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0 being a C class ip address correct?
So if I want to create 4 subnets I would need to borrow 3 bits from the last octet (the host portion of the ip address). Would that then make the new subnet mask for the 4 subnets 255.255.255.224?




When I create my first subnet, would the address be 195.0.0.32? Would the host addresses for that subnet then be 195.0.0.33, 195.0.0.34, 195.0.0.35, etc.?

Looking at just the last octet (original host portion) I have three bits borrowed and 5 left for hosts correct?

0000 00000

So the first network address would be

0010 0000

Giving me 195.0.0.32, and the first host on that network would then be

0010 0001

Giving me 195.0.0.33, is all of that accurate?

 

If you want only 4 subnets in replacement of the class C network you would use the following:

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.192

Subnet 1:
Network: 195.0.0.0
Host Range: 195.0.0.1 - 62
Broadcast: 195.0.0.63

Subnet 2:
Network: 195.0.0.64
Host Range: 195.0.0.65 - 126
Broadcast: 195.0.0.127

Subnet 3:
Network: 195.0.0.128
Host Range: 195.0.0.129 - 190
Broadcast: 195.0.0.191

Subnet 4:
Network: 195.0.0.192
Host Range: 195.0.0.193 - 254
Broadcast: 195.0.0.255

 

Oh oops I meant 5 subnets but it looks like I have the concept.
