battery driver issue after upgrading from Vista to 7

2 weeks ago I upgraded my Sony Vaio VGN-C260E from it's original operating system windows vista to windows 7. I have not had problems with it until today. Today, it is unable to detect a battery. Battery life shouldn't be an issue, because yesterday I used the battery where it lasts around 2 hours. I've tried system restoring it to the earliest possible date (which is now the date of the newly installed windows 7) without any luck. I also contacted Sony support and they said it's mostly a driver issue, but they cannot give me support on any operating system besides what my computer originally came with.

Now my laptop will only run if it's plugged in. Need advice please!

Hi

Not upto speed on Sony laptops and their battery drivers, but just check this for me, click Start and then type msconfig into the start search box and hit enter, then click Startup tab and look to see if ISBMgr is listed and if so how many times?

Also open Device Manager and what items have if any a yellow ! mark by them?

Have you run Windows update? at times it can find updates to drivers etc, may not in this case, especially if Sony are not supporting this model with Windows 7 drivers.

Thanks for the suggestions. However, there is no ISBMgr listed at all, and the only thing with a yellow ! is the Mass Storage Controller for which updated drivers are unavailable. Everything else is up to date on windows No luck.
