Battery Issue For Asus Zenbook Ux305f

I had to buy a new AC adapter for my laptop due to the original failing. The new AC adapter was working ok.
Then I tried to replace my original battery with an after market battery. I didn't follow any specific steps. I just took out the old one and put the new one in. I turned it on and began using my laptop as normal, while disconnected from the AC adapter. After a several moments, my laptop shut down. I started it back up to only have it shut down moments later. I then replaced my after market battery with my original, hoping to resolve the issue. No luck. Since then, it is unable to hold a charge and has to remain plugged in. The battery goes high as 53% charge. Hovering over the battery icon says '17% charge, (plugged in)'.

Is there anything I can do to get my battery charging again?

After I installed the new battery, the laptop would suddenly shut down

 

Please ignore my last post.
I never tried charging it right after installation. Just used it unplugged because it indicated it had 67% battery life. I used for about 20minutes before it would shut down. Started up my laptop again, and a few moments later it shut down again.
I tried charging it for 1hr, but the battery indicator icon indicated there was no charge. Hence, why I put my original battery back in.
