Battlechess and XP pro

Hullo everyone. I started 1990 with a Armstrad, which had a game called Battlechess. Up to two weeks ago no matter how much I upgraded my pc, I could still play my fav. chess game. A month ago, I started on the internet, where I was able to get various u/grades of XP pro.
Since a fortnight ago, I have been unable to play Battlechess, the dialog I get is:
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS & MS windows apps. - press close(or ignore) to terminate app. Neither opens my beloved Battlechess. Does anyone know of a way around this problem, or, on the other hand does anyone know where I can get an up2date version of Battlechess?
