Battlefield 2 probs still,after the 1.4 patch

Anyone still having problems after the 1.4 patch here are the ones that are still getting me down,I have to click the BF2.exe about 6 times to get the game to run often this will start 3-4 BF2 games running at the same time which have to be manually ended,sometimes it just fires up straight away

Cant refresh my favourite servers without them dissapearing,can only check one or two servers before the game halts,you can still move the mouse but thats it,this also happens when browsing the main internet servers page,have left the game for an hour with no difference just have to control,alt ,delete out of the game and end the process,after this the game wont seem to start up again without a reboot

I have reinstalled the game with the full 1.4 patch a number of times with the same results,its isnt a firewall issue,I spend about and hour each day tryna get on a server and start playing

Anyone else having these issues or found a solution,the game seemed much more stable under patch 1.3,but not that much,had no problems last year playing it with no patches

 

Mine freezes after about 30-45 minutes of playing. The graphics have become all choppy, I haven't checked for driver updates yet, that's what I'm doing when I get some time.

Check all your drivers, tbh m8. I'm aware that there are still issues with 1.4, we've had to sort out problems with it coinciding with BF2CC (admin software for kicking skanks off the server) but it seems to have fixed a lot of things.

EA will never get it right.....

On regard to your refreshing favourite servers - mine would always disappear from day 1 so I wouldn't worry!

 

I was having major problems with Patch1.3, I could only play the game for 5-10 minutes before I received a " There is a problem with your connection" message. Now (with patch1.4) the message only appears after the round is over, then the game freezes, then it picks up again when the other players spawn in the next round. It really sucks, I paid $50.00 for BF2/SpecialForces dvd, and its been nothing but a headache...although when it does work BF2 Rocks!

Thats the problem great game but I'm beginning to feel the problems overtaking the fun,all my drivers are up to date for everything,'I am a geek 'I'v even downloaded all the incremental patches and tried those to no avail,I was also getting 'your connection with the server has been lost' message the 1.4 patch seemed to clear that up only I find yet more, different problems,its like I have to jump start the gsme to get the bf2.exe to work timing my double clicks to trick the game to start I'v never experienced anything like this before

The BF2 browser is also probably the worst multiplayer server browser ever made,none of the pings are correct,you cant view the servers lowest ping first,you cant view servers that are in your country only,your favourites dissapear and the browser locks up randomly at least for me

Also another major gripe is my audigy LS wont hardware render the sound,the sound is awsome when its enabled but the voices are choppy and it eventually just starts letting out a high pitch squeal I know it isnt the greatest soundcard but the marketing spiel has got people thinking that soundcards are getting better and better but they arnt,they could render sound as good real life years ago and real life cant be bettered they have chosen not to make the sound work with most of the crteative lab range and creative cards are bf2's recommended sound card I doubt I'll every buy another creative product and I wont be buying any battlefield expansion packs ,at least until patch 1.9 has beed released

EDIT wavvy a long shot but double check the windows firewall hasnt enabled itself,somehow after downloading the latest windows updates the windows firewall had enabled itself and blocked some BF2 processes?

 

That has happened also, a few times, I put the disc into the drive and it didnt read, so I manually started it--still nothing, after waiting 1 day it worked again. And now I dont have that problem any more. LoL I thought my drive was broke until I tried a different disc.


Im using Panda FW, I entered "EA BF2" into the FW (cuz when I first bought the game the fw was causing problems not now though) still just makes the connection error message pop up, but as I said...I can play the game it just takes 5min between load times (or rounds) so that kida sux. Thx for the advice though!

Well seeing as I have heard alot of problems since I stoped playing this just makes me want to stay away from the game more. I hate EA period, with a passion, they release great games but they never follow up with the right fixes, they don't listen to customers, they're customer support sucks.

To top it all off they keep making lame expansions or booster packs whatever they want to call it for more damn money. It's a great game but I probably will never play it again nor will I ever buy another EA game again (except Madden since....it's the only Football game) I learned my lesson with Motor City Online way back when. Greedy bastads!

 

Exactly, I thought the Special Forces(BF2 ep) was going to be a completly different game. All it is, is just a few extra maps....lame. I dont totally dispise EA yet, I still enjoy the Sims1 and 2. At least I dont hate it as much as I hate Steam and Valve. Lame ass episode based games....$20.00 for 5 hours of gameplay..............lame.

HMMM interesting the game has just locked up when tryna connect to EA account,ended game through taskmanager then tried to run the game again,the desktop exe wont work so auto ran the cdrom and the start BF2 and play online now are greyed out,unselectable,somehow it knows it cant be ran,like its already running ect,yet i'v stopped all processes of it

 

yeh my soround sound when in servers doesnt work .. can someone help me.. i had sound in 1.3

 

Add it to the list of growing issues with every patch in BF2, better off reverting back to 1.3 and play those who still use that patch.

 

I dont know of a single server,ranked anyhow that runs patch 1.3
