    Hey,

I just bought Special Forces expansion pack and I attempted to install with all the default installation settings, blah blah.

When I try to start it up, an error comes up:

    Urgent help please.

Have you tried reinstalling Battlefield 2 standard? And do you have the latest patches installed?

Ok. It's patched and it opens now. Thanks!

However!!! When I go to Single Player and try to start a map up it closes. (on special forces)

Very odd. Are all your drivers updated?

I believe so. BF2 1.41, latest vid drivers, I've never known how to get audio drivers so can't vouch for those.

    It's fairly urgent, help please!

I can get MP to work perfectly fine, no problems.

Is your audio onboard or do you have a separate pci sound card?

What Mobo do you have? Everest can tell you. DxDiag might also hold a clue.

    From Everest:

    Field Value
    Motherboard ID <DMI>
    Field Value
    Motherboard Name Dell Dimension 4600

You've been Delled. Two options involve shooting your computer with a large caliber weapon, or buying a PCI sound card which will require a trip into Dell hell, or a modification to the structure of the PC.

Is it a tower, or flat box?

    Tower.

Then you should be able to use a third party card, but you'll probably have to leave off the side.

Do you have any third party mods installed? And is there a second hard drive in the computer?

    Triaxx, you seem very anti-Dell

I've had no problems upgrading them in the past, a new sound card should fit in fine.

Go onto the Dell website, see if there's any updated drivers for your motherboard, this may help.

Yes I have a second hard drive, and I have non-stock Memory and GPU. How do you know it's the sound card?

My beef with Dell extends only to the desktops, which seem universally designed with half-height Dell specific cards.

I'm not sure it's the sound card, so I'm exploring all options. Is BF2 installed on the second HD, and is Special Forces installing to the same location.

No. They're installed on the same hard drive, which is the first hard drive in their default directories.

josh, did you try my suggestion at all? It would seem advisable.
