bb connection problem

I have Comcast hi speed and wait 2-3 minutes for my home page call to go through.
Outlook Express times out waiting for a Comcast POP3 reply.
I have been on this service since 03 and have not had problems for quite awhile.
I run XP / IE7 no updates available with McAfee suite + Ad Aware free anniversary edition + Spyware Blaster + MSMVP host file blockers.
I have released and renewed flushed and cleaned and ran scans and this does not change the fact that every tracert times out on first ping.
Comcast sends me canned replys in response to my querys.


Any ideas?

 

Just to verify and reiterate. After scanning your computer for viruses and spyware and all results show your clean. You are still unable to get onto the Internet, am I correct?

Also, try the following in the meantime. Unplug the power to your Cable Modem and shutdown all other devices that connect to the Cable Modem. Then wait 1 minute, power back on the Cable Modem and wait about 2 minutes. Then power on the computer behind the cable modem and let me know if you have connectivity.

Also try the following,
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. In the Address Bar type "192.168.100.1"
3. Look for a page about Signal

I need to the the Downstream Power Level, Signal to Noise Ratio and Upstream Power.

Hi, I ran through all the before you post things at comcast tech support but I guess you wouldn't know that.
My solve was to get rid of the Mcafee suite and go back to my old paid Norton AV and ZA firewall.

 

Good to know you got things up and running again.
