Anyone know if its possible, when sending email using BCC in outlook 07, to have only the email address of each recipient of the distribution list appear in the To section of the email? So if i sent an email using BCC to 20 people, when Bob got the email address id like the To section to show only Bobs email address. Likewise with Joe, and so on. Been trying to figure out if its possible or not for a while now.

    Hi Goldenskull
Thanks for the reply. I might not have explained what im trying to do correctly.

I know what BCC does, but what im trying to do might not even be related to BCC... Id like to send an email by distribution list, but for each person in the DL to see only their email address in the To field when they receive the email on their end.

in other words, i want each person in the DL to only see their own name in the To field so it appears as if it was only sent to them.

BCC accomplishes this in a way, but when the person on the receiving end gets the email, nothing is in the To field if only BCC is used to send.

I don't believe that can be done. However, you use a different technique. From http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA012002371033.aspx:

"Tip Consider using mail merge in Word as an alternative to Bcc. With mail merge, you can quickly send the same e-mail message to individual recipients. Mail merge allows you to do a mass mailing in such a way that there's just one name on the To line of the message."

Mail merge works great, but doesnt work exactly like id like it to when using a DL. I think thats going to be what ill have to do though.

I was researching this for a user at work.

Another forum i use suggested the mail merge as well, so i think thats going to have to work for my user. Ill just have to have him make each person in his DL a separate contact if he wants to do it like this.

I get emails with lots of addresses, I assume, in the BCC field. In the To field, the person puts his/her email address. This, I feel, is a very acceptable alternative to letting the space blank.
