Bitdefender Total Protection 2017 and its tune-up module, sorry if I have not been clear enough:)

Looking at the Bitdefender website, there is no Total Protection 2017.
There is Total Security 2017 but it doesn't include any 'tune-up' module.
Frankly, I wouldn't use any tune-up feature included with another program. What does this tune-up do?

You will be better off using such an optimising/cleaning program from a publisher that specialises in such software.

CCleaner is the most recommended of these programs.

For programs that do more there are:
    Wise Care 365
    Advanced SystemCare
    Glary Utilities
    WinUtilities

They are all available on MajorGeeks and while these are the free versions, take care when using them.

Stay away from any suite that promises to do tons of things. It is a recipe for disaster. You run it and it changes lots of settings without informing you what will be changed. Something breaks and you haven't a clue as to what was changed.

You you have an issue, post and someone will help you fix that issue with a step by step so you can write down what you changed. That's the safe way to "optimize" your computer - one step at a time.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Max. I had a feeling it had something to do with Bitdefender, but I had know idea that they had this included on their suite. I use Bitdefender Free so I never went any further that that. Thanks again. Lets hope the OP listens to plodr's advice, she's the master of knowledge. ;)

CCleaner is safe because it's conservative.
Click the link I provided more more info.

Tip: Leave the settings at the default but turn off System Monitoring and Active Monitoring.
Open CCleaner > Options > Monitoring and uncheck the above 2 boxes.

I run CCleaner - not too frequently.

I feel it is better to have a few bits that I might not need than to remove 1 bit that I do need.

My hard drive is partitioned and I have 80.1 GB assigned to Win 7. With 3 years of use, I have more than 50% still free.

I erase files instead of deleting (less crud). I store files off the computer so if the hd drives or the computer acts up, I can grab my files and move to a working computer if I'm pressed for time. When I remove a program, I use Revo Uninstaller (less crud). So with the way I use the computer, little cleaning is needed .
