bearpaw 1200 scanner install help

It use to work.
The disc is for win 98
but i installed the new drivers from the web site to work on win home xp 5.1.2606 but then my pc died and i had to reformatt and reinstall but my scanner wont work, the wizard say it is fine trouble shoot said it is working fine. but when i try to use it say cant find LTKRN70.dll try to reinstall so i do and reboot and the same box pops up and says the same.
Do you know what that .dll is and what i can do to make this scanner work.

How come it always happens when you have tons of stuff to scan for work on a deadline and not when you are messing about scanning and croping your mates head on some porno pic.
