My laptop was working fine. I traveled in a long distance flight, and since then, I am having this issue.

At boot, I hear 5 beeps, a pause, then 5 beeps, a pause and repeated. I checked the majorGeeks forum for Dell laptop, suggested CMOS issue.

    I tried the following:
    1. Logged into BIOS setup, changed the time to the local time. didnt work. Tried "load defaults" - also didnt work
    2. Ran PSA diagnostics - no error

    Current situation:
    1. Even after re-boot, the time I set in BIOS is showing correctly - does this mean the CMOS battery is working fine?
    2. After boot-up, when I hear the beep sound, I press mute button and the beep stops for few seconds, and then again starts.
    3. The laptop is otherwise working fine, no issues other than the annoying beep sound.

Kindly advise. Attaching the details from Belarc advisor below:

    Hi Eldon,

I had already checked the link.. it did not mention about Dell laptops.. i did check on dell laptop beep codes, which listed cmos battery issue. But i am not facing any battery issue either, the laptop does remember the timings. Please suggest

If it happens again, check if replacing the CMOS battery resolves the issue.
