Ok, recently I downloaded FreeBSD , installed and was lost.. lol then I got Mandrake which was alot easier to learn on. I have both Linux and Windows installed on the same computer on diffrent drives, so when I boot up I can pick which one to use.

Right now im just useing the linux to learn on, my question is .. is it secure to do that? to have both linux and windows on your computer? also which Linux is the best for beginners?

    Redhat?

I really would like to switch from Windows to Linux eventually but cant because windows has too many applications I need like nero burning, mp3 and video players, ect..

    thanks for any help

Well, I'd check out kubuntu as a starter distro, to be honest.

Somewhat old thread but heres my opinion. Using both windows and linux on same pc is Ok. For a beginner i recommend linux live which is much easier Imo. My personal favorite is: http://www.slax.org/
