Behind the Scenes causing conflict

I have a thread in Spyware, and though it could still be spyware related, I wanted to also check to see if anyone knows about audio recording software like ProTools. Runs fine until I bring up the reverb effects and plug it into one of the busses. Press play, and audio track plays, press stop and gradually, but quickly the CPU usage shoots up and maxes out.
Also notices there is something causing the "system usage" to flick up to 40 or 50% for a split second.
Anyone have any way of finding out what is running that causes this? I've disable the antivirus while off-line, while running Pro Tools. Can't figure out what it is.

    Thanks,
    Brant

I'd try Process explorer, run this and monitor what is going on (can be confusing at first, but it is a good tool to monitor what is going on (behind the scenes))

Also, I'd pay quite a bit of attention to the guys and gals who work ine the malware (spyware/virus) forum of MG!
