I had to contact Asus re: MOBO info.
They asked for the serial # and I opened Belarc, but was told the info was incorrect.
I looked at original box and the # was indeed different.

    Why the discrepancy?

    Thanks, Paul

You'll have to provide much more info, what are you trying to acomplish overall :confused Why do you need to know what motherboard you have?

Post the model of the motherboard and the information you wish to have:)

If you just need the serial number for exchange open the side of the case and read the serial number from the motherboard, it doesn't have to be any more complicated than that.

I thought my question was pretty clear.

When on the phone to Asus, they asked for the serial # (p8z77-v)

Belarc gave a wrong serial # - I went to the box and gave them the correct one.

What you've posted above is the model number what ballarc reported was the serial number, that's the discrepancy.

Serial number is a more accurate than a model number and usually only helpful to the manufacturer to differentiate minor differences between boards with the same model number.

That's why I needed more info, if you've have posted both numbers originally I could have told you straight away.;)

So far, my question has still not been answered.

I simply asked why Belarc gave a wrong answer to the MOBO serial #.

The actual serial # - on box - begins with C2M...

I know many different ways to access the serial #, but since I was speaking to Asus at the time, I simply opened Belarc and thought the correct # would appear.

Your not stuck it's just a curiosity question as you have the information that asus requested so basically your just curious.

Since I suggested trying a different pieces of software and you have neither posted the result including the serial numbers you gained from the other software so I'm not sure how anyone can help you:confused

If your problem is with ballarc alone I would suggest you contact them as no one on here can answer a question where we know less about the question and results than you.

And as far as I know thee is no reason the serial numbers would be different is you were looking in the right place and software was working correctly.
