Belkin vs. Windows XP

    Whenever I restart my computer, it defaults to use my Windows XP wireless utility to manage my wireless connection. I've had problems with this connection holding in the past and was told to open my Belkin utility and check the radio button that says "Use this Belkin utility to control my wireless connections." After I click this button and connect to my wireless network, everything runs smoothly from then on. However, everytime I restart my computer it defaults back to the Windows XP utility instead.

    Is there a way to keep the Belkin option as a default?

    Greetings, wolfend31...

    Does the Belkin utility have an option to have the utility start upon Windows startup? If so, you might try disabling the Windows Wireless Connection Manager in Network Connections. Reboot and see if the Belkin utility takes over.

    I don't see any option to startup the utility when Windows starts. Any other ideas?

    Alternatively, go into services and change the start up type for the WZC service to manual or disabled.

    Go to Start > run > type in services.msc, Enter, scroll down to WZC service and right click, choose properties, change start up type and OK/close out.

    I get a list to come up but there is no "WZC" listed there. Am I doing something wrong?

    Look for wireless zero configuration, or some variation of that.

    My bad, I used the shorthand designation.
    WZC = Wireless Zero Configuration

    (Colemanguy beat me to it.)

    I did try this, and I restarted the computer and it seemed to work. Then I restarted it again and I was not connected to Belkin Utility. I went back to the WZC option and it was switched back to automatic. Anyone know why this might be?

    My next step would be to uninstall the Belkin utility, set the WZC to 'Disabled', and then reinstall the Belkin utility. Make sure you reboot between steps to verify each operation.
