    Hey Guys ;)

i was doing a benchmark of my system with 3D Mark 2003 and wondering if my scores were good - or something to worry about, i used the demo so the default test stats were 1024x768,
    texture filtering: optimal
    Max Anisotropy: 4
    vertex shaders: optimal

    My Setup
    P4 - 3.0Ghz - HT (800MHz FSB)
    1gb DDR400 (PC3200)
    80gb HDD
    Audigy 2 ZS
    ATI Radeon 9800xt
    480watt power supply
    WinXP (SP2)
    Catalyst Drivers: 04.7

    3D MARK 2003 SCORE: 3434

Should i jump with joy - or is this a pitiful score ^^

    Thanks,
    Archaon :)

im not too familiar with 3d mark 2003 scores. if you get 3d mark 2005 and use that then i will be able to tell you if they are good. they look kinda lowe from what i understand at the moment, but just try get a hold of 3d mark '05. :thumb:

"you should be getting around 6000 with your setup."

Yeah, my system gets around 5500. Athlon XP 3200+, 512Mb of Dual Channel DDR400 RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb. Your score is definitely on the low side.

"but even then it wont even come close to a good gaming machine nowadays"

Uh, this machine, will play pretty much any game out at a decent framerate. Maybe not with the graphics all the way up, but it will still look very good. I run Counter-Strike:Source/Half-Life 2 @ 1680x1050 with medium settings on any map and get very little video lag. Just because it's more than 6 months old, doesn't mean that it's not even 'close to a good gaming machine nowadays.'

Thanks for the feedback - yeah, there is def some problem somewhere - my previous 9600xt was getting in the 1000's on 3d mark 2003 so this was a upgrade, but not to its full potencial - there must be a CPU or RAM issue

    thanks,
    Archaon

i would use drivercleaner to uninstall all previous drivers including current ones then reinstall a fresh batch.

    toms hardware got over 6,600 points on a 9800xt on a 3.2ghz p4 on 3dmark2003 ( and they don't overclock anything)
