Benq (acer) Scanwit 2740s-film Scanner Driver

Hello,

I just bought a refurbished film scanner- a BenQ (Acer) ScanWit 2740S.

I failed, however, to check to see if I could use it with Windows 8. I did some searching and it says that it's not compatible with Windows 8.

So, am I completely out of luck?

Is there anything I can do or install to make this work??

You can try installing its software in Compatibility Mode

I tried to do this, but I'm still getting the error message:
Mirafoto 2.0
"Setup failed to run installation:
The remote procedure call failed"

 

You need to go into services.msc and search for Remote Procedure Call and check that it is running (if not click on 'start' then apply and ok) and is set to AUTOMATIC. The second service RPC (Locator) should be set to manual.

Do the above, probably restart your system, then try again in compatibility mode.

So, I followed what you said- made sure the RPC settings were set, restarted computer, went to Program Compatability Troubleshooter, which found 'Incompatible Program.' It gave a green check mark and said the problem was fixed.

But, I'm still getting the exact same error message when I try to set it up
