I have just purchased the above BenQ 162I external burner and the OEM version of Nero came with it 6.3.1.23B.

My burner is working fine with my 1 click dvd copy and dvd43 reading and then I playback to check it with my intervideo win 4 that came with the notebook. ( I use the external burner as the source and destination)

The cd burner is working fine, i use my source as the notebook and the destination as the BenQ and playback with windows media player.

After I checked out the burner to make sure it was working and used the tool detection exe. that BenQ sent for me to check the firmware installed and found it to be the latest per their global site which is the most up to date I installed the Nero OEM.

After I installed it and the StartSmart Icon appeared on my desk top and included the OEM Suite Nero Vision Express 2.1.2.18B, Nero Showtime 1.5.0.39 and Nero Express 6.3.1.23B, I opened the program via the shortcut on my desktop and the Shortcut did not disappear but it flashed down to the quick launch icon in the Task Bar. The program then opened up showing all of the above suites and I clicked on Nero Express to open it and the cursor wouldn't open the program and I clicked on others and got the same problem. So I decided to reboot and try again.

This time when I clicked on the "Nero Start Smart" shortcut icon on the Task Bar nothing happened, it would not open. so i tried to open with the Quick Launch and still nothing would open, i persisted with another reboot and still nothing.
Since i wanted to burn a cd , i decided to uninstall the Nero which I did and did a Reg Supreme clean after as well. I also did a search and there was nothing for Nero showing.

However knowing that "Ahead " is part of this I did a search and found the INcd.exe as well as the Ahead common files still in the computer, I spent an hour getting rid of them and then today in the Nero tutorial I found the tool that rids of the stubborn entries.

What I would like to know is anyone has encountered this before, I contacted Benq and they said it maybe to do with the INcd.exe and Ahead common files and so i was wondering if when I install the suite as listed above do they get installed by default?
BenQ was trying to tell me there was an option there to install INcd or not to install and I did not see that as I would not have installed it as I only wanted the Suite and don't know what INcd is.

I was wondering if it is possible to install only the Nero Showtime and Nero Express as that is all I would really use or does one have to install the whole suite??? And of course is INcd and Ahead common files hidded in there?

i would like to use Nero and did not anticipate these problems. As it stands I have not even been able to open the program. And of course it is unistalled for now until i get a better idea about the program with posts in forums.

i searched for updates for this OEM version and couldn't find anything. As I understand that there is a newer version out, however I don't want to buy that one and have the same problems. And it seems as well more into video/dvd and that is not my need.
I talked to BenQ and they said that this version is what they get from Nero and it is basically this new Ultra version without all of the bells and whistles for the video/dvd improvements.

I would appreciate comments as I would like to use this program. I should say that when I installed it I did it from my notebook's cd/rw drive.

    Thankyou

InCD is a packet writing program, and in layman's terms it allows you to sequential write to a CD like you do to a hard drive, eg drag 'n drop

I'm not familiar with your exact suite, but I'm sure you can select during installation which programs you want.

InCD is handy for some people, but it can also cause problems to the uninitiated. It's your call whether to use it or not.

Thx for the reply, in one forum it was suggested to just install Nero Showtime if I want a player and Nero Express and leave the other ones out.
And then it said after I install those 2 programs then get the latest updates from the Nero site and I can't seem to find anything in my surfing except for Nero 6 Reloaded and so I wondered if there is a site for updates and if so will it list my OEM by its number 6.3.123B so that I know what to update for these 2 programs?

Would anyone out there as well know where this site is?

Thankyou for your patience with this newbie at this cd/dvd adventure?

    Regards

As far as I'm aware, with Nero O.E.M you can only use them on the drive it was supplied with and you aren't entitled to any updates.

I think you have to purchase the update from O.E.M to retail, at least with my version I did. Double-check with them anyway.

If you start Nero StartSmart, then click on the bottom right icon called Product Centre, then click Check Now if you have it and that may update it.

The Ahead Nero updates are HERE.
