I am a person who turns the web upside down and downloads from weird places, which may not look the most secure places to download from.

Downloading from torrent, crack sites etc etc.

I need a antivirus that will protect me when there's trojan or malware around.

Which antivirus would suit me the best. It should scan downloaded files automatically.

Does not have to be free antivirus.

    Hi

First and foremost, I do have to say that Major Geeks does not condone the use of pirated/illegal downloads, software, cracks, etc. Any discussion or question regarding it will be either locked or deleted.

Since you are asking about protection, I will point you to this thread that our malware removal expert created about protecting yourself: How to Protect yourself from malware!

I'm going to tell you, though, that no matter what protection you have on your computer, if you continue to do as you are doing, you Will get infected. Your computer's protection is based on your behavior.

Agreed, this site is about legal education about computers, not about how to get around software licenses and escape the consequences of such. With that attitude, you'll not get much help here. LauraR was generous enough to give you a helpful response... most here won't, as you come across as up to no good. For your sake, I hope you change your computer habits, as a lot of the infections nowadays steal not just your time fixing the infection, but personal information, internet bandwidth, etc.

best balance between protection and using system resources

The best protection is a safe user, which you blatantly aren't.

By far the best protection is safe browsing. You I have to say are simply begging for it :-D

    Sorry mc, simultaneous posting

All the protection in the thread I linked you to is very good...and most of it free. It's all recommended for it's effectiveness and also because they are not resource hogs like the big name protection companies. If you look through the thread you find what you should have on your system and find what most of the regular users on this site utilize.

All that is also based on safe browsing habits, which you admittedly don't have. There is not one knowledgeable geek/tech person that will tell you that there is any foolproof software that is going to protect you completely from the things you are doing. You may get lucky for a while and the protection will certainly help, but eventually you'll get infected.

Antivirus software is akin to a spare tire. It's not something you plan on needing due to what you're doing. It's a backup in case there's some unforeseen accident. Without understanding this basic concept, even with the best antivirus software (if there is such a thing), you'll still get infected.

Also, this site isn't about you asking us to make decisions for you. You were pointed to the educational thread about protecting yourself from malware. If you need someone to tell you exactly which program to pick, exactly how to configure it, etc. then you're even worse off than I thought (no offense).

I don't feel I'm able to help someone that is unwilling to help themselves.
