Just wanted to ask peoples opinion on what is the best programme for performing a full clean up of the hard drive. Something stable that will remove all the different types of junk data, temp files, internet shrapnel and maybe tidy the registry too.

I had a look at the download section and searched for previous topics but couldn't find anything.

    My two favorite...

    FDISK...

That pretty much takes care of everything.

    too much?
Then there are several that I use as I don't think there is one "do it all" program..
    Norton Systemworks
    Spybot S&D
    Adaware

I guess those are the main ones for me..

Since no one seems to be answering the question directly, Ill try. I use System Mechanic to clean my hard drive of temporary and unneeded files. The registry cleaner in it is quite good as well and the startup manager as well as other tools.

I with Major on this, I use System Mechanic also. It's really good at cleaning just about everything. I mean I use a series of programs though, Disk Cleanup (standard Windows Utility), Windows & Internet Cleaner, System Mechanic, and jv16 Power Tools. But if you just want one program, I'd suggest System Mechanic.

The best general system cleaners I have use are:

    WindowWasher
    WashandGo
    System Mechanic

All are shareware with trial versions
