    1. Do Avira Antivirus’ and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware’s paid versions’ real-time protection collide?

They used to work together for me quite well for a long time, but then Malwarebytes developed problems. I’m not sure it had anything to do with Avira, though.

But now Avira tells me that they don’t recommend using the paid versions of the two products together. What have other people experienced when they tried this? I would really like to be able to do it, because when it was working for me, I never had the slightest problem with malware.

    2. Also, what about protection from ransomware? In the past I had used CryptoPrevent, which seemed to work well and not collide with either Avira or Malwarebytes, but I’m not sure if it’s still (or was ever?) considered the state of the art.

    Thanks for any help.

The latest version of paid Malwarebytes protects against: web, exploit, malware and ransomware.

Forget CryptoPrevent, MBAM replaces this and is updated more often. As far as Avira, use Windows built in av. Most threats now a days are not from viruses.

I've installed MS Security Essentials in Windows 7. In Windows 8.1 and 10, the built in Windows Defender is like MS Security Essentials and robust enough that you don't need to install any other av program. It plays nice with MBAM.
