which full tower computer case do you all think is a good one? thermaltake? coolermaster? looking for one that has good airflow and quiet as possible. looked at thermaltake speedo and its seems pretty good. does anyone have any hands on experience with this case?

Kinda depends on what you are wanting to do with the PC, and what your budget is. I like the Antec 300, but is a mid tower case, but very roomy and well designed. Thermaltake makes some nice cases, I did have an issue with a Soprano case and a full sized GPU, nothing the tin snips could not address. :-D

its going to be for gaming so thats why i want a case that cools good. also i will be watercooling in the future. I'm running a crossfire setup now and plan to upgrade in the near future to a new MB and CPU. i just hate to buy a case and find out that it doesn't cool as good as it advertised. thanks for everyones replies.

I have had good luck with a few differnt cases.

The Antec Dreamer X has been a little warm, but never moves more than 10 degrees F up or down. (contains a highly overclocked GPU, CPU, and RAM.

I have an off brand full case that I used a drill and dremel on and that cools extremely well. The main cooling for that one is the scyther ultra craze 120mm fans that I added to the case beyond the orriginal fans.

The other case that I found to be a good one was one that was a full tower sized made custom of plexi glass and wood. Again a custom rig.

If you know what you need, and you got an old case laying around to sacrifice, then just go custom. You cant get a much cooler case in aestetics or temps. Use the housing for the Harddrives, DVD drives, and the mounting paterns for everything else. At worst you shell a functional case. At best, you have something completely built by you and custom your needs and tastes.

Only you can find your best match. My only factory case in use, the Dreamer X, was hated by alot of people because of the lighting (neons on fans) being so bright at night through the side window in the case. I still like it and even added more custom lighting.

You know where performance is concerned most of the cases I've seen fall short and it doesn't seem to matter how much you spend,£50 cases can have many more fans and better layout than a case four times the price. Most of your money goes into the looks of the case and build quality and even then it can be hard to separate the build quality of upper end cases.

I've never seen a cases that couldn't be drastically improved by modding as Nibblesdacat said, not one and it doesn't matter who made it.Just make sure it has lots of fan mounts, the more the better, even if you don't use them all it will give you options and save time if you decide to mod it.

So yeah IMO don't shell out a fortune expecting an amazing performing case your mostly paying for the looks and name.

Case in point:-D My case cost £60/$120 if I recall it has 3 140mm fans,2 120mm fans and two 80mm fans.

550 spare beer tokens to spend on performance hardware.

I have the same case but the non Nvidia branded one, a great case and enough areas for cooling fans and enough HDD bays.

For quiet, in the main watercooling is the way to go but if your wanting to stick with air cooling then you may need to invest in some quiet fans and I tend to like Noctua fans, I changed the fans in my Coolermaster case for 6 of these 120mm fans and 1 of these for the 80mm fan port under the CPU (direction to expel air out of the case)

Plus direction of the airflow of the fans is crucial as it taking time to cable manage the cables when you are building to try and not have them in a mess, send as many around the back of the motherboard tray.

Plus I changed the CPU HSF for a Zalman CNPS9900

Noise is as low as possible, does ramp up a little when the CPU is being taxed and the GPU (nvidia GTX570) can make a bit of noise when being taxed in a game or doing F@H.

I also decided to get two SSDs and use them as the main drive for Windows as they are zero noise and for data storage I'm using 1x1TB WD Green and 1x2TB WD Green HDDs which are quiet.

But for cases I'm a fan of Coolermaster.

Had to go to Thermaltake site as Compusa didnt have images of the inside which is poor, but having said that the case is superb I like the outside design and the internal drive bays and cooling options, I would as the case fan ports look like 120mm look at Noctua fans if you want a quiet cooled case as they can be adjusted with the jumper cable to various RPMs

Airflow if you follow their images on the site look perfect.
