Best Download Accelerator (and no spyware either) = Better Internet connection service! Switch to DSL or even better Cable....I haven't had the need to use a DA since my switch to DSL back in 1999 then to Cable in 2001... ;)

Well right now ive got Comcast cable. But in most cases I rarely get over 400kb/s. even if the server is within 100 miles of my house. most of the time when the server is relativily close i only get 350kb/s.

400Kbytes d/l speed? Is this really a standard cable service?
Even the cheesiest ones should give you about 1500Kb+ download and 128Kb+ upload. Most companies do provide around 3000Kb download and 256Kb upload as a standard package. Cox Cable gives me 4000Kb+ d/l and 512Kb+ upload on an average day.
If you are supposed to get a certain d/l-u/l such as what I mentioned above then contact your Cable Service Provider and have them check and correct the problem. Speed could vary depending on what server you connect (its current load due to internet traffic) and also how many other users using the cable service of the same company connected to the same hub.
Using certain software and/or manually adjusting your system's bandwidth settings could help but not much also if this is a problem like I described above (ie. you were given a 1.5Mb d/l-128Kb upload but getting only 300Kb d/l), you should bring up to your CSP attention.

www.broadbandreports.com is a good place to check your internet connection settings, check for problems and possible tweaks to improve it, also it lets you see the connection speeds of others around your neighborhood for comparison.

hes talking about kb, not Kb. 400kb is average, if not decently fast (400kb *8 = 3200Kb = 3.2Mbit)

not gonna get much out of your company unless they offer a higher package

they do not work. they only thing they help are web pages and all they do is decrease the quality of the picutres on the page. so DON'T GET ONE :) waist of time :)

He is talking about kb not Kb huh? lol, there is no such thing as kb, it is either Kb or KB. Kilo is always represented by a capital 'K'.
I think, before anyone assumes anything and make comments, it'd be better to get the facts from the person having the problem. Though, I seriously doubt he would be looking for a DA or even think his downloads were slow if he was getting 350KiloBytes a sec.... ;)

my mistake, i was tired when i wrote that, my logic is correct, i just meant he was reffering to kilobytes/s and not kiloBITS/s. he does get 350kb/s, he just wants more ;)
