Think you need to update yourself on this app now as in last version 1.8 onwards , its free and adware free, yes in the installer it has the option to install the Google toolbar, but many free apps do this as well.

I use Flashget and like the app, I wouldnt use it if it had spyware or adware included

From Majorgeeks - see editors note - Flashget is ad suported

FlashGet is specifically designed to address two of the biggest problems when downloading files:
Speed and management of downloaded files.

If you've ever waited forever for your files to download from a slow connection, or been cut off mid-way through a download - or just can't keep track of your ever-growing downloads - FlashGet is for you.

FlashGet can split downloaded files into sections, downloading each section simultaneously, for an increase in downloading speed from 100% to 500%. This, coupled with FlashGet's powerful and easy-to-use management features, helps you take control of your downloads like never before.

Editors note: Flashget is ad supported.

I know what that says and I have mentioned this to the editor, in getting it changed to reflect the new status of Flashget.

Odd times with the amount of new software and softwares changing status some small % may have not so current status attached to them on the download pages, which is where user help comes in to notice and mention to the editors the errata http://www.majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=17 can use this page and the email listed to Tim @ Majorgeeks to do this.

What is the eMule in the FlashGet?

eMule is p2p file sharing and Flashget supports its and other torrent protocols for use in this download manager.

Why you not download it and which one would "it" be as there were 3 suggestions for you?

If its Flashget, it has no adware or malware included with it, honestly I would not use it if it did.

@Halo@, do any of them speed up Broadband downloads.
I tried one that said "500% increase ", :) and it was slower than the in-built downloader in Opera v9.21 :) Bazza

NAH in reality yes some may speed up the download a little as they grab multi portions of the file to download at same time and combine the file at he end, but 500% NOPE! you only have a set bandwidth speed of your connection from ISP and thats all you can use, their is no magic secret extra stash of bandwidth.

The main beauty of downlaod managers is the ability to stack a few up and leave them going if any get cut off, then you can resume.

i have the latest version of FlashGet and it is superb the only thing i have found is if it is downloading it tends to slow the browser a little but as a download tool it's top (and free) also as HALO said this new version has no adware in, plus if you do P2P it supports most torrents.http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/aetsch/cheeky-smiley-011.gif

ah gotcha, yes you can re-download Flashget, but the eMule bit is just compatability it doesnt mean you have downloaded eMule, all it means is that you could if you wanted use an eMule link in Flashget to download something.

Ah I see... Yeah I've seen it. The eMule can be activated through the Options.

My comment on Flash Get is... It slows my IE. :( But in managing my downloads. It is great.

Hi, Yes it will slow your IE and surfing down, but that is normal as a download manager ( and all are same ) will use all available TCP connections to the max to get your download as quick as possible! thus slowing surfing down... which is why I tend to load up the download manager pause them all until a time when i not using PC much then set them all going, which is generally while I'm sleeping.

With getright you can set your download speed limit at whatever you want to leaving enough bandwidth available to carry on browsing the internet :)
