Best DVD Burner for Dell 4550/XP Pro

I'm looking to upgrade from the CD burner & DVD Reader that came with this Dell 4550.

I'm looking for a DVD Burner that will handle Dual Layer - DVD-R/-RW, DVD+RW/+R, and CD-R/CD-RW and doesn't have any problems with the inexpensive media available.

I want to pair this with a DVD Reader that will read all of the above mentioned formats.

Any suggestions on these two?
(I've heard that LiteON is to be avoided!!!)

And, if you know who has a great price on them I would appreciate the info or a URL.

I have a LiteOnIt 16 x supports all that (dual layer as well) and I buy the cheapest possible cd's haha or dvd's and they work just fine. The trick is to burn them at half of your native speed. It cost me about 140$ australian.

 

where did you hear lite-on is to be avoided? IMO they are some of the BEST drives out there.

In my eperience, none of the 6+ i have owned have ever failed or made mistakes, where HP's, Sony's, and TDK's have all messed up or failed.

I have an AOpen 16x Dual Layer etc, nice drive.


Had Liteon and liked them, last one was an LG 4x that I've just passed on to my son, again a decent drive

 

Hmmmmm..nothing on other mfgs?
