Best free anti virus advice please

Does anyone have sugggestions about the best free anti virus that I can download until I can buy some?

Next, does anybody have advice on which anti virus I should buy?

I like AVG Antivirus. It's free, updates nearly every day, and never expires (as far as I know). I've been using it for a couple of years without problems.

AVG and Avast are both freeware antivirus apps that are available for download on this site. Personally, I use Avast!

id go with AVG or Avast along with ZoneAlarm as your firewall. Whatever you do dont go out and buy norton or mcafee....

its from my home forum, but we had a member do a test of 37 or so different AV programs. A combination of Free/Pay programs. You might be surprised to find out which ones actually did the best....

His conclusion is that Kaspersky is the best based on his results.

I use Avast (free) at my desktop and AVG free at my laptop, i like the Avast better becouse of the many options available for a free tool...
