Best Free Antivirus Programs?

    Was wondering if somone could tell me which is the best free antivirus programs. I currently have AVG antivirus. I was also looking at avast, or is there a better one out there?

    Hi

    Yes AVG is a good free AntiVirus program, but also AVAST which is also free is quite capable too but take a read of this for some other ideas to keep you safe online, most if not all are free.

    I like AntiVir for free virus protection; Avast! is OK too. Check out Comodo too; good free virus protection and they've got a free firewall too for 'hand-in-hand' protection....

    Yes AntiVir is good too and it is in the How to protect link the Halo gave you. Comodo's antivirus is okay but not yet at the level of the other free tools in that link.

    Im using Bitdefender now.
    I used Avast and Ad-Aware SE along with Sygate firewall for yrs.
    Im trying Bitdefender because its a all-in-one.

    I highly recommend against using all in one security suites. I have not seen one yet that is not a massive resource hog. A very large number of people coming to the malware forum with complaints about slow PCs are not having malware problems. They are having Internet Security Suite resource hog problems!

    Also folks the topic of this thread is FREE Antivirus and Bitdefender Security Suite ( all in one ) and any of the products from Symantec and McAfee are not in that catagory.
