best free scanning software for canoscan?

Hi people,

I've just purchased a second-hand Canoscan lide50 and i really need recommendations on the best free software for scanning.

Any help would be appreciated - thanks

Hello there! Great S/N, btw.

I have to ask: what is wrong with the packaged software? Is it missing? From my experience, scanners usually come with all the drivers/apps required.

and if you didnt get the Canon software CD, then try these,

also what OS you using?

Could try if you have installed the canon drivers and or have XP, its most likely that you can scan from any graphic program, MS Paint, IrfanView, Paint .Net and most of the free GFX programs here http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads37.html

just need to try going to Files > Import, From Scanner / Camera or Aquire

Thanks for the replies

The scanner did not come with the packaged drivers/software - I downloaded the drivers from canon.

My OS is XP pro, AMD 2800, 1gig crucial ram, radeon 9800 pro.
