Best OS setup for gaming...

I'm on a laptop, so there are limited resources for gaming. I was thinking for running normal desktop applications (web browser, word processor, programming, etc) will be run in a virtual machine, then games will all be run on a stripped down main OS. Windows 7 for both, the main OS will just be incredibly stripped down and bare bones (although drivers will of course be installed for gaming) and the virtual machine OS will be a full OS that I will only run when doing everyday tasks that take less resources.

    How well will this work?

Sounds like a pretty good idea as long as you have a large enough hard drive so that your games have ample use of the main drive (the more free space the better). Also, you will need to make sure you can back up your important files to a remote location from your virtual setup.

I recommend running the following especially for gaming:

    GBoost
    Process Lasso
    Clean Mem

I actually use JetBoost too. It optimizes slightly differently than GBoost. Process Lasso has a gaming mode that I leave enabled. There are some very cool settings for CleanMem that give you control over how it works. If you would like some help setting any of these up, I will be glad to help...
