My computer is messed up. I need to know the best program to repair it. I need a suite or just a program. I don't need registry repair software. I just need a program to fix windows. I'd also like a program that can repair a NTFS file system. Thanks.

There is no program to fix Windows, you have to use the Repair functionality of XP by booting with the CD, in order to repair it. It is because Microsoft owns the License to XP, not any other company.

Just in case: maybe System Restore can also help...

:) After I installed Windows I grew my partition from 135Gb to 300Gb. I used partition magic 8. Could this have made errors in my system?

I get all sorts of error messages and BSOD's. I really would like to fix them. I've run some tests from Norton System Works 2005, but I still get these annoying errors. I ran the diskdoctor, but it essentially ran checkdisk when I rebooted. I want something that will actually work.

I think it would help if we knew exactly what's wrong with your computer. What are your computers specs? What is broken/doesn't work? What error messages are you getting? These might help get some more helpful recommendations.

You probably had a Bios limit of 137GB, and installing Windows lifted that. It's not a problem.

Anyway, you need to provide the specific errors so we can offer relevant advice, otherwise we are all just guessing.

Well I have a pretty old PC.

    Athlon XP 2000+
    Albatron KX18D Pro motherboard
    300Gb Seagate Barracuda
    40Gb Seagate Barracuda
    512 Mb PC2100 DDR ram
    Radeon 9800 Pro
Windows XP Pro SP2 Version 2002
    (I know it's old, I'm upgrading soon)
I just need it to run stable....

So.. I turned off automatic restarts and I get BSOD's all the time....
Usually When I have a few heavy CPU using programs open....
Or when I'm playing HL2. I usually get 0x0000005e as an error message.
I just want to be able to use my computer as a media center and for playing a few games; without having it lock up all the time. Thanks:) :)

We need to know the exact error when you get a BSOD.

Either write it down, or take note of the time it happened and go to Event Viewer (start, run and type in eventvwr.msc )

There was a bug in XP which gave 0x0000005e errors, but it was resolved in an update 887742.

Check and see if you have that, if not then download and install.

It is not that old of a machine.

Yeah I guess it's not that bad. It can play HL2 quite well. I just want to play some games, use all of my software, and play music; without my PC locking up all the time. I'm open to any suggestions.

I guess you don't want to fix it then.

    Anyway, good luck.

I meant it could play well before. It's terrible now. I can't play any games. I can't even use a few basic openGL programs. I really need help to make it stable.

This morning, I booted from the windows cd. I went to the install screen, and ran the repair option. I let it run for a little while, and when I came back. There was a BSOD.

The error read: The driver mistakenly marked part of its image pagable instead of nonpagable...

    Thanks....

Did you install Service Pack 2 after originally installing Windows XP ? (Or was SP2 installed together with XP)

Have a feeling that Insomniac have hit nail with the 137 GByte limit.

If the disk controller (on the motherboard) cannot handle 137 GByte, and you have "allowed" Windows XP to make use of all 300 GByte, then you have probably created some errors on the partition (A little unsure if it is possible to resize the partition beyond the capacity of the controller).

Even if you update the motherboard BIOS so it will handle disks beyond 137 GByte or if you resize the partition back to 137 GByte, then the damage created on the Windows XP partition will probably require that you reformat.

Though this is only me guessing, as I have very little experience with the issues around large disks.

I have Windows XP Pro SP2. That's the newest version. It comes with SP2.

Yeah.... So I kept getting errors when I was trying to repair my windows installation. I tried it three times, and I gave up. After I did that I tried to run windows, but something must have had errors in it. I couldn't get into windows at all. I tried to format it through the windows install, but It appeared to do it way too fast. When I tried to install windows it said that my harddrive had errors and couldn't be repaired. The harddrive isn't that old, and I don't play frisbee with it. So, anyway... I opened up seatools to try messing with it, and Started a "zero-fill full" on it. I was wondering if this will solve the problem with my "harddrive corruption". Thanks

I just want windows to install correctly and works stable when it's installed. Could this fix the problems I've been having?
