Looking for a friend's new video card... He has give or take $120 bucks. Looking to play BF2, COD2. He only has a 15" LCD, so running at high resolutions isn't important, though the other eye candies would be nice. He's got an AMD 64 3500+ and 1GB of memory.

I was looking at eVGA 7600 GTS on Newegg, which is $114.99 after rebate. What do you suggest?

By the way, he has a regular old Compaq PSU. I imagine it's not too powerful, I can check the specs on it later. Which cards use more power than others?

Okay, he has a Hipro 300W PSU. Hipro is what Compaq/HP usually uses, I believe.

Anyhow, I have an MSI Radeon X800XL. I tried that in his computer, and the fan on the card would come on, but it wouldn't display a picture, even when I changed the BIOS to use the PCI-E card as the video.

My X800XL doesn't have an extra power connector... So I imagine that if his PSU won't run a card without one, it certainly won't run one WITH one... That measn the question is what WILL it run? Buying a new PSU would obviously take a pretty big chunk out of his video card fund. I guess I thought that since Compaq built a PC with a PCI-E slot that it'd have enough power to run a stinkin' PCI-E card, but I guess I was wrong.

By the way, he isn't runnning much more stuff in his case: only 1 optical drive, 1 hard drive, and 2 PCI cards.

    Any ideas?
