best way to dispose of a computer??

i got a couple comps to get rid of but what should i do with them?

 

Give them to me no I'm just kidding. I wouldn't just throw them away. Theres lots of things to do with them.

-Sale them
-Donate them
-GIve them to some used computer store

Or perhaps if you know of someone that needs a computer they could use the ones you have.

 

in my area it is actually illegal to simply throw them away ,,, you have to give them to a recycling center ... computers do contain matierials that are very hazardous to the environment, so even if it isn't illegal in your area I would still suggest finding a place to recycle them

 

Easy!
1) Take the hard disk out of the computer.
2) Expose the hard disk to magnetic field, bust hard disk with sledge hammer and grind its surface with a bench grinder. Then throw it in a river or lake.
3) take the rest of the rig and give it to a Salvation Army Store or some such place. Somebody who wants to learn code and can't afford a new computer will bless the day that they get this computer (no hard drive, no problem).

What are you asking for them and what type are they? I don't want the HDs.

Wish it was so easy to get a shotgun in the UK then again I change my mind.

 

first off, be sure that you destroy the hard drive (especially if its a very old one and worthless - take it apart, destroy the platters in it and suck), then for the rest, donate it or sell it. if its legal wherever you are, set it outside and someone will prolly take it - give it to a family member who wants a computer. just dont let it goto waste unles its something totally ancient

 

Jesus what do you guys us your computers for?The only thing that would be found on my HD is crap porn and crapper games,is it the fact you might have typed in your bank details?I have never typed in mine yet untill its more secure I just use the phone.

Is it the risk of people seeing your family photos?I would love to know why destroying a HD is so important?

I think it's called paranoia.

Nor can I understand people saying destroy or throw it out.

Why not donate it so someone else can experience the mental anguish that Windows has put you through?

Crap porn is when someone in the film takes a crap LOL,I'm sorry your right,what I ment to say was short porn.It is taken back.LOL.

 

I was saying to lay into the hard drive with a sledge hammer or something for the benefit of people who where paranoid. Me, I would just write random data to the thing about 25 times or so, and then reformat, reuse it. But, some people who are paranoid, or who have sensitive data don't want to bother learning how to securely erase a hard drive, and ... for their benefit, tell them to destroy the thing, physically!

Its worth it, if it keeps the computer from being discarded. That's what I think. Sacrifice the hard drive if need be, in order that the rest of it not be wasted!


You guys, you crack me up! No such thing as crap pr0n! Haha. I worked at a photo lab for a bit. Believe me. Nude shots are hard to take and have them look right. I have seen some that are
seriously really bad! These guys, they would call themselves photographers!
