Hi, i'm currently on a very unreliable university network, the DNS server keeps screwing up for hours at a time. Is there a way I can tunnel out to my mates machine (with his consent of course!) and use his internet connection? Even when the dns is down, I can still get out as long as I know the IP, so if I tunnel to his IP, it should work right?
I'm behind a proxy as well if that makes matters different?
I'm running win xp home and he is on xp as well, but i dont know which one.

    cheers

I would think that you could simply plug in "reliable" DNS server address into your TCP/IP configuration and solve the problem.

Try 198.41.0.4 or 167.206.245.69 or one large one closer to your location.
